Chris Liebenberg and his father Boet came to the Lower Zambezi Valley in the early 1990s, camping out and exploring the area’s pristine wilderness. Their favourite camping site was a beautiful grove of winterthorn trees at the confluence of the Chongwe River and the Zambezi, which evolved into Chongwe River Camp. Chris has now brought his expertise to Kasaka River Lodge which was taken into the Chongwe Safaris family in 2010.
A renowned safari guide in his own right, Chris’s fantastic relationship with the Lower Zambezi’s communities and deep commitment to the conservation of its flora and fauna have made him instrumental in the development of the pioneering new Chiawa Partnership Park initiative.
Chris lives in Lusaka with his wife Juwayhir, and their four children but divides his time between home, Chongwe’s head office and camp.
