Seasons - Kasaka River Lodge is open during the dry season from April to
November subject to the onset of rains when the lodge becomes inaccessible
and activities are impaired.
Climate - Zambia's elevation on a plateau gives it a moderate to tropical
climate with three distinct seasons: December to April is warm and wet,
May to August (winter): cool and dry, September to November: hot and dry.
Average summer temperatures range from 25 to 35 deg C and winter from 6 to
24 deg C.
Time - Zambia is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, 7 hours ahead of
Eastern USA time and 10 hours ahead of Pacific and Western time.
Currency - Local currency is the Zambian Kwacha and the most acceptable
foreign currency to use is the US Dollar.
Visas and Taxes - Visas are needed for most visitors to Zambia. Please

Zambian Airport Departure Tax (currently USD 8) and Security Charge
(currently USD 3) are payable on all domestic flights within Zambia.
Health, Vaccinations and Insurance - Health precautions
for African travel may be unfamiliar to prospective guests and we
recommend contacting your doctor prior to travel to discuss the
need for any possible immunization and malaria prophylaxis. Comprehensive
medical and repatriation insurance is advised.
